2016 Sno-Valley Short Film and Animation Festival
Rules and Regulations

The 2016 Sno-Valley Short Film and Animation Festival, presented by the Duvall Foundation for the Arts, is a juried event that aims to showcase amateur and professional filmmakers in the greater Pacific Northwest. The Duvall Foundation for the Arts promotes creativity, diversity, and cultural awareness by supporting the arts and arts education in the Snoqualmie Valley.
What is the Sno-Valley Short Film and Animation Festival?
2016 will mark the DFA’s first annual short film and animation festival. In keeping with our mission, we are reaching out to artists in the realm of film and animation with a chance to showcase their work at a local film festival. There will be three categories of submissions:
- The Junior category for students in grades K through 5. This category is unjudged.
- The Intermediate category for students in 6th grade through 12th This is a juried category.[2]
- The Advanced category for participants aged 18 and over. This is a juried category.
Eligibility Requirements
- All entries must be original works.
- Films that (a) have had a theatrical run in the US prior to the Festival dates, (b) have aired on US television prior to the Festival dates, or (c) are available for purchase on DVD in North America are NOT eligible.
- All entries must be either in English or subtitled in English. Dialogue lists are not accepted.
- Entrant confirms and warrants required legal authority to submit the entry into the Festival and to use all music, images, and content in the entry.
Submissions
- Artist Applications are available online at duvallarts.org/event/filmfest or at the Duvall Visitor and Centennial Center.
- Entries should include the Artist Application, Entry Fees (in the form of a check made payable to Duvall Foundation for the Arts) and 2 DVDs containing the work.
- Submissions must be at least 3 minutes in length and no longer than 25 minutes in total (10 minute maximum for the Junior Category).[3]
- Only complete entries (including fee payment and DVD screeners) will be considered.
- Entrants are permitted to submit works-in-progress (i.e., without final color correction or sound mixing), but please note that the programming committee will only consider the version submitted. Subsequent cuts or replacement copies will only be accepted at the request of the programming committee.
- To qualify for student entry fee rates, entrant must include proof of student status at the time of production (e.g., copy of student ID, transcript, etc.)
- There is no guarantee of acceptance into the show or of award presentation.
Deadlines
- Entries eligible for early bird rates must be postmarked by October 31, 2015. Regular deadline entries must be postmarked by November 30, 2015. No late deadline entries will be accepted.
Shipping
- The cost of shipping an entry to the Festival must be paid by the entrant. Collect or COD shipments will not be accepted. Entries will be accepted in person at the Duvall Visitor and Centennial Center.
Judging and Selection
- Films are selected for Festival presentation by the Sno-Valley Short Film and Animation Festival Committee. If a film is selected for screening, the Festival office will contact the entrant by phone or email.
- All entrants will be notified on or before January 1, 2016.
- Films selected in the juried categories are judged before the Festival.
Entry Fees
- Each entry must be accompanied by the appropriate entry fee. Entry fees are not refundable. Fees cover registration, notification that your entry has been received, and notification of results. These fees may be paid by check or money order, made payable to Duvall Foundation for the Arts.
